Ingrained is a furniture/art/object project from Matt Loeks and Krystle Formsma. After meeting each other at an art show in the fall of 2012, we soon started forming new show ideas entangling our own passions. In the spring of 2013, we recognized our mutual love for woodworking and the bliss of making things by hand. Intersecting with our world of fast high tech, over produced things we felt drawn to starting our own branch of making things that felt like they had more connection. More warmth and humanity. There is a primitive need to play with wood and a desire to combine beauty and function. Object making is human, it is ingrained.
We are based out of Grand Rapids, Michigan. Are busy looking for a studio, getting more tools and getting off the ground. Getting ready for our debut on September 7, 2013. This is where you can follow our progress. Come along!
